How to Sell an Interval Fund

Selling an interval fund is a unique process due to its quarterly redemption periods. These instructions will guide you through submitting a sell request with Charles Schwab:

  • Know the Redemption Window
Interval funds only allow selling during a specific period each quarter. You will receive a notification from the fund manager announcing an upcoming repurchase offer and the deadline to submit your sell request. You can also find an estimated redemption date on the fund's detail page within our website. Please note that Schwab will only accept sell requests until 4:00 PM EST (1:00 PM PST) on the final day of the redemption period.
  • Access the Schwab Trade Screen
Log in to your Charles Schwab account, either on their website or mobile app.

On the Website: Navigate to the "Trade" tab and select "Stocks & ETFs".

On the Mobile App: Tap the "Trade" button and select "Stocks & ETFs".
  • Place Your Sell Order
Complete the order form with these details:

Account: Select the Schwab account that holds the interval fund.

Symbol: Enter the ticker symbol for the fund you wish to sell.

    Action: Select "Sell."

Amount: Enter the dollar amount you want to sell.

Review Order: Carefully review the details, including the fund name and estimated proceeds. Schwab's transaction fee, if applicable, will be automatically included.
  • Understand the Payment Timeline
Click "Place Order" to submit your request. The fund proceeds will be deposited into your Schwab account sometime between 3 and 30 days after the order is submitted, depending on the fund's specific processing schedule.
